Arched, angled, skylight, and hard-to-reach windows. If it’s not a standard rectangle, we’ve covered it — for 33 years.
WNC mountain homes are full of architectural character — soaring arches, angled rooflines, skylights, floor-to-ceiling glass, and windows in places no one planned to cover. We’ve been solving these challenges since 1992, and there isn’t a window shape we haven’t figured out.
Specialty windows are defined by anything with an arch or an angle — anything that’s not a standard rectangular opening. These require custom measurement, custom fabrication, and an installer who’s done it before. That’s us.
Half-circle, quarter-circle, eyebrow, and full-arch windows. We custom-measure the exact curve and order treatments built to match — turning a challenging opening into a design feature. Options include shaped shutters, cellular shades, and specialty blinds.
Triangular, trapezoidal, and raked-ceiling windows common in A-frame and mountain-contemporary homes. These require precise angle measurement and products engineered to operate on a slope. We handle all of it.
Skylights need coverings too — for light control, heat management, and privacy in lofted bedrooms. Hunter Douglas offers skylight-specific cellular shades with motorization so you can control them from your phone or voice assistant. No ladders required.
Two-story foyers, stairwells, clerestory windows above doors — WNC’s multi-level construction means windows in high places. Motorized treatments are the practical solution, and we install them every week. We also match window treatments to your existing décor, including custom wood stains and paint matching.

Common questions about non-standard window treatments.
Any window with an arch or an angle — anything that’s not a standard rectangle. This includes half-circle arches, eyebrow arches, triangular windows, trapezoidal windows, skylights, and very tall or hard-to-reach windows. If you’re not sure, send us a photo or schedule a consultation and we’ll assess it.
Yes. We custom-measure the exact curve and order treatments built to match. Shaped shutters, cellular shades, and specialty blinds are all options depending on the arch type and your preferences. We do this regularly — arched windows are one of our most common specialty projects.
Hunter Douglas makes skylight-specific cellular shades designed to mount on angled or horizontal surfaces. We recommend motorization for skylights so you can control them from your phone or voice assistant without a ladder. These also help significantly with heat management in summer.
Most specialty orders take 4–6 weeks. Some complex configurations — like Norman shutters or orders during peak manufacturing periods — may take 6–12 weeks. We’ll give you a specific timeline during your consultation.
